I felt I had to download this app again, I hadn't used it in years, never liked it & many places don't use it much. But where I am now, there is more info on happy cow than Google maps. The rating system distorts the reviews so much, also forces me to allocate stars like I don't want to (vegan places get more than those/th "only" vegan options). That is misleading & led me to make bad decisions. On the other hand, there are many places listed here that have no real vegan food at all.

Hi, thanks for your feedback! We are always open to suggestions on improving our rating system, but we try to show support for fully vegan businesses as a vegan app. We are limited on text here, but if you’d like more info on that, please reach out! Please consider rating based on the app capabilities 😊🐮 - android@happycow.net

Been using this app for 7 yrs now, since going vegan, and it has mostly improved over the years. I recently went to add a restaurant near me (serves impossible burger) and there was a mandatory spot where it says to put 3 minimum vegan dishes they serve. That is simply not the world we live in, sadly. If we only allow users to add perfect restaurants, there will be very few options in the app!! Not to mention, if we want vegan options everywhere we have to reward the restaurants who experiment!!

Hello Jean, it's that way only to encourage quality listings, however, everything is decided on a case-by-case basis. We receive way too many listings that are nearby fully vegan restaurants which have 2 or less options so we're also trying to reduce clutter and support the places which are fully vegan.

The app I find helpful and it works well. The whole reason this app is needed is because there are places which simply do not cater to people with different diets (i.e. Vegans and Veggies). So by feeding back and sharing those that do, we can support those businesses and vote with our feet, encouraging more change. But by having the rule that an establishment can only be 5-star if it discriminates in the opposite direction is missing the point. We should aim to create spaces for all.
